Blues
Blues is a vocal and instrumental form of music. It emerged in African American communities from spirituals, work songs, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballards. The use of blue notes and the prominence of call and response patterns in the music and lyrics are indicative of African influence. The blues influenced later American and Western popular music, as it became the roots of jazz, r&b, rock and roll, blue grass, hip hop and other popular music forms.

Ray Charles

Ray Charles born September 23, 1930- June 10, 2004 was a pianist and musician who shaped the sound of rhythm and blues. He also brought a soulful sound to country music and his noted for his rendition of "America the Beautiful" that Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes called the "definitive version of the song, an American anthem — a classic, just as the man who sung it. Ray Charles was given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987, in 1991 inducted to the Rhythm & Blues Foundation. and In 2004, rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #10 on their list of the 100Greatest Artist If All Time www.raycharles.com
Bobbie Blue Bland

Robert Calvin Bland born January 27, 1930 better known as Bobby “Blue” Bland, is one of America’s legendary Blues artist. He is sometimes referred to as the "Lion of the Blues". Along with such artists as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Junior Parker, Bland developed a sound that mixed gospel with blues and R&B. In 1992, Bobby Bland was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1997 he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
KoKo Taylor

Koko Taylor born Cora Walton, September 28, 1935 in Shelby County, Tennessee is a legend in American blues popularly known as the "Queen of the Blues." She is known primarily for her rough and powerful vocals and traditional blues stylings. She dominate the female blues singer ranks. In addition to winning a Grammy Award she has won twenty-five W.C. Handy Awards more than any other artist blues artist. Her style has influenced musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Shemekia Copeland and the late Janis Joplin. www.kokotaylor.com

Buddy Guy Gets Clapton, Randolph For New Album

Guitar legend Buddy Guy has Eric Clapton, Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks in his corner on "Skin Deep," his next Silvertone/Zomba album. Due July 22, the set is led by the title track, which features Trucks.

Clapton appears on "Every Time I Sing the Blues," while Randolph guests on "Out in the Woods" and "That's My Home." The new album is the follow-up to 2006's "Can't Quit the Blues," which reached No. 2 on Billboard's Top Blues Album chart.

Already a Rock and Roll of Fame inductee, Guy will on July 20 receive the Great Performer of Illinois Award during a ceremony at Chicago's Millennium Park.

The artist will be on tour in North America beginning July 23 in Silverton, Ore., with support from George Thorogood & the Destroyers.
