When the Minnesota Black Music Awards was created by Rhodes with his partner and wife Kim in 1982, 

it's goal was to

 recognize 

the outstanding

contributions of black musicians and artists in 

Our Programming including Backstage at the Dakota, Shinning Stars, BMA Community Spotlights and the Emmy nominated BMA Networks Urban Perspectives affairs show, are production exclusives. In conjunction with local organizations our Youth in Media program has provided industry training and career connections to communities in local media.

PETE & KIM RHODES FOUNDERS OF WRNB FM CABLE 24 HOUR CABLE RADIO CHANNEL LAUNCHES BMA CABLE NETWORKS ON TIME WARNER CABLE SYSTEMS BECOMING THE MINNEAPOLIS METRO FIRST 24 HOUR COMMERCIAL BLACK MUSIC CABLE CHANNEL. THE CHANNEL PROGRAMMING INCLUDED TOM JOYNER RADIO SHOW, THE DOUG BANKS SHOW, THE MINNESOTA BLACK MUSIC AWARDS AND A MIX OF BLACK MUSIC VIDEOS AND ARTIST.

2004

BMA CABLE NETWORKS CHANNEL LAUNCHED ON TIME WARNER CABLE IN ST.PAUL, MINNESOTA.

BMA CABLE NETWORKS TWIN CITIES LAUNCHES IN LONGBEACH CALIFORNIA ON CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS AVAILABLE TO 1.1 MILLION SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SUBSCRIBERS.

BMA CABLE NETWORKS SPONSORS THE LONGBEACH JAZZ FESTIVAL NEW ARTIST STAGE AND FEATURES JOTO JAZZ FUSION BAND FROM MINNEAPOLIS. JOTO COMPRISED MEMBERS OF THE GRAMMY
AWARD GROUP MINT CONDITION.

BMA CABLE NETWORKS MOVES ITS STUDIO TO CBS AFFILIATE WCCO TV.

BMA CABLE NETWORKS PRODUCES BACKSTAGE AT THE DAKOTA JAZZ CLUB. AN ARTIST SPOTLIGHT SHOW FEATURING TOP NATIONAL ARTIST APPEARING IN THE TWIN CITIES. ARTIST INCLUDED BLACK VIOLIN, DEWLE, BRAIN MCKNIGHT, FDELUXE, RAMSEY LEWIS AND OTHER LUMINARIES.
